I was cleaning out my hard drive, and I found a Cowboy Bebop screencap from a long time ago, so I decided it would be good for experimenting with. Using liquid inks and airbrushes in Corel Painter IX, this is what it turned out like after about 4 hours.
The hair was actually better the first time I did it, but Corel decided to crash violently for no reason (twice, actually) so I redid it a bit quicker. I really like liquid inks using a bristle brush for hair, gives it a sharper feel than an airbrush while retaining the smoothness.

That's from the "Ballad of Fallen Angels" episode, which is one of my favorites. Plus, I loved that song as Spike was falling while reminiscing about his time in the Red Dragons. Nice experiment, but unfortunately I can't tell the difference (not an artfreak).
